Ken Jennings. left, and Mayim Bialik have been named as permanent hosts of “Jeopardy!” The new season will begin on Sept. 12.

A historic “Jeopardy!” season that saw an unprecedented string of super champions is over.

“Jeopardy!” is airing reruns during the offseason. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect.

Why is ‘Jeopardy!’ airing reruns right now?

Season 38 of “Jeopardy!” ended on July 29, and filming is now underway for the upcoming season, which will be hosted by Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik. For the offseason, “Jeopardy!” Executive Producer Michael Davies and other producers have selected six weeks worth of their favorite episodes from the past season to air in the meantime, according to a statement from Davies.

This includes some of the season’s closest games as well as appearances from the several champions that had massive winning streaks.

When does the new season of ‘Jeopardy!’ begin?

“Jeopardy!” fans can expect to see new episodes of the quiz show when Season 39 begins on Sept. 12, Newsweek reported.

“Jeopardy!” has already welcomed back live audiences for filming — and tickets for some of the first shows back have already sold out, according to the show’s website.

Who is hosting ‘Jeopardy!’?

“Jeopardy!” has announced that Jennings will kick off hosting the new season from September through December. Bialik will then take over as host in January, although it’s unclear how long she will host due to her commitments to the sitcom “Call Me Kat.”

In addition, Jennings will host the greatly anticipated Tournament of Champions that will feature several contestants from this current season who have had spectacular runs: Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio, Mattea Roach and Ryan Long. Bialik, meanwhile, will host “Celebrity Jeopardy!,” the “Jeopardy!” National College Championship and other new tournaments, the Deseret News reported.

  • “Jeopardy!” recently revealed its celebrity lineup. According to TV Insider, the lineup includes:
  • Simi Lu.
  • Constance Wu.
  • Iliza Shlesinger.
  • Ray Romano.
  • Aisha Tyler.
  • Patton Oswalt.
  • Michael Cera.
  • B.J. Novak.
  • Candace Parker.

“Celebrity Jeopardy!” airs Sept. 25 on ABC.

Jennings and Bialik will also appear together in the Season 3 premiere of Bialik’s sitcom, “Call Me Kat,” which airs Sept. 29, the Deseret News reported.

Jeopardy! fans were disappointed last week with no new episodes to watch. So what should audiences expect to see on Monday night as a new week starts?

The game show hasn’t delivered a new episode since the end of July. It’s been a while since we last saw Luigi de Guzman become the new Jeopardy! champion.

Unfortunately, that trend will continue on Monday. There will not be a new episode of Jeopardy! tonight.

Instead, anyone tuning in will see another repeat episode from season 38. Tonight’s encore presentation will be the November 4, 2021 game. It features Cindy Zhang, a user experience designer from New York, New York, who will return for the recently announced second chance tournament.

When does Jeopardy! return with new episodes?

Tonight’s rerun is part of Jeopardy!‘s summer schedule. The program will continue highlight exciting games, fan-favorite players, and interesting matches from the past season all month long.

It all leads up to the premiere of season 39. Fans can expect the new episodes to begin airing on September 12.

When it does, we’ll also see the return of two familiar faces behind the podium. Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik will be back, trading off hosting duties throughout Jeopardy! season 39.

Are you excited to see the return of Cindy Zhang later this year? What other players do you think deserve a second chance at winning some cash? Share your thoughts in the comment section below. And keep checking Last Night On for more news, updates, and recaps!

The most recent season of Jeopardy! was one of a kind, but it'll never be the same without Alex Trebek.

After then-executive producer Mike Richards secured, then relinquished within a week, the full-time role in September 2021, Jeopardy! legend Ken Jennings and actress Mayim Bialik were named permanent rotating hosts.

But after quite the historic and eventful season, fans are beginning to notice that the episodes currently airing aren't very challenging — because they're reruns. Why is Jeopardy! only airing reruns right now?

Why is ‘Jeopardy!’ airing reruns right now? When does the new season start?

Season 38 of Jeopardy! ended on July 29, and Season 39 is currently slated to return starting Sept. 12, giving viewers a bit of time between the two seasons. The new season will bring back Matt Amodio, Mattea Roach, Amy Schneider, Ryan Long, and many more for the highly-anticipated Tournament of Champions.

‘Jeopardy!’ is airing six weeks of producer-favorite episodes.

In the interim, though, Jeopardy! will be sharing some producer-favorite episodes from Season 38.

"But instead of repeating our tournaments as we have in the past, this year, my fellow producers and I have handpicked six weeks of some of our favorite episodes of the season," executive producer Michael Davies wrote in a statement.

'Jeopardy!' finds its permanent hosts in Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik.

Yes, the new hosts of Jeopardy! are Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik!

"In Mayim and Ken, we have two outstanding hosts at the beginning of their Jeopardy! hosting careers who connect with their own unique fanbases, new fans, and the traditional Jeopardy!" Michael said in a statement.

As for how Season 39 will work with two hosts, Michael announced that Ken will "kick off the season in September, host the inaugural Second Chance competition and the heavily anticipated Tournament of Champions."

In the meantime, Mayim will host Celebrity Jeopardy! until January, when she will officially take over from Ken and host brand-new Jeopardy! tournaments in addition to the annual National College Championship.
