Since i updated iPadOS to v14, all my drawing apps are lagging a lot at random, like... sometimes when i draw a line, it takes 2-3 seconds to appear... REALLY annoying. Well, today i found a temporal fix... disable pencil scribbling in iPadOS's pencil options. You won't be able use this new feature, but you won't get lag. Reply if it worked please :) iPad / Using iPad
Hi, I'm using iPad Pro 10.5 with Apple Pencil. After the recent OS update, I feel that Apple Pencil lags when writing on Notes app. I'm also using GoodNotes, but I'm not seeing as serious lag as I do in Notes. Does anyone else experience similar problem? iPad Pro 10.5-inch, Wi-Fi

Hi Augustjune, Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand you’re having trouble with your Apple Pencil lagging while using Notes. We’re happy to help. First, restart your iPad and make sure you’re running the latest iOS version: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch Then, try unpairing your Apple Pencil and setting it up again. To unpair tap Settings > Bluetooth > [Apple Pencil] > Forget This Device. To set it up again, follow these steps: Connect Apple Pencil with your iPad We hope this helps. Have a great day!
I tried these steps and the lag didn’t improve. I also turned off Scribble, but the problem persists. Thoughts/suggestions?
apple pencil lag after iPad OS 14 update (iPad Pro 10.5)
iPad / Using iPad
When I am drawing or writing on either GoodNotes or notability, my Apple Pencil will sometimes glitch and draw lines that I never drew or big scribbles all over the screen that I never drew. Or in some cases the iPad will lag behind the pencil and the drawing will lag behind the Apple Pencil. Does anyone else have this issue? I don’t know if it could be down to my screen protector or a glitch with palm detection; although I don’t know what the lag could be from. Any ideas?
Ok no worries, when there is an issue with the pencil, other than disconnect, reset the Ipad and connect again there isn't much else which can be done from home so it would need to go to an apple store Glad the issues are resolved.
I would forget the device, you can do this in bluetooth within the settings. Click on the I next to the pencil and press forget, then turn the iPad off and turn it back on. The try and connect the pencil again and that may clear up some of the issues. Which pencil and iPad is it?

How old is the pencil/iPad? Has it all ways been like that? It could be a faulty iPad/pencil, maybe because the devices are so new maybe your best to speak to Apple as they may have to replace the pencil/iPad

Apple Pencil becoming slow and glitching
I have an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil. The iPad is new; I recently had it replaced through AppleCare for a broken screen. I have had the Pencil for two years, but it has not been used until the past couple months. My Pencil is in excellent condition and so is the tip. All of my apps are updated and I am on IOS 15.3.1. I use Apple Notes for taking notes in school, which includes making diagrams for notes. When using Apple Notes, some notes lag, and there is a very noticeable lag between when I place the tip of my Apple Pencil on the screen and when a line begins to appear. I have iCloud off for my notes and they are all stored locally. The storage on my iPad is 15.3gb/256gb. Help fixing this lag would be appreciated. iPad Pro, iPadOS 15

Hello Laddy-Ben, As your Notes app is lagging when using the Apple Pencil and the Apple Pencil was just replaced, if this is only happening in the Notes app, follow these steps If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open. If this happens in multiple apps, review the steps in About iOS performance on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. For both scenarios "If you tried these tips and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is still slow or continues to freeze, contact Apple Support." Hope this helps. Have a good day. |
