How to delete shortcuts on Facebook on computer

If you want to show, hide, edit, or manage Facebook Shortcuts that appears on the left-hand side on the official website, then this article will be handy for you. These shortcuts appear automatically based on your visits to those groups, pages, etc. However, if you want to organize them manually, here is how it can be done.

A regular Facebook user often likes, manages, joins, plays various games, groups and pages. If you are one of them who often want to play a game or visit a group quickly, these shortcuts help a lot. It works something like the “most visited sites” that some browsers offer. Likewise, Facebook detects such pages, groups, games, etc. and show them on the left-hand side of your screen. From here, you can click on it to open that particular page or group.

Change, edit and manage Facebook Shortcuts

To manage Facebook Shortcuts, follow these steps-

1. Open the Facebook website.
2. Log in to your account.
3. Hover your mouse over the Your Shortcuts.
4. Click the Edit button.
5. Search for a group/page/game.
6. Click the drop-down menu.
7. Select Pin to top or Hide.
8. Click the Save button.

To get started, open up the official website of Facebook, and enter your login credentials to sign in. After that, find out the Your Shortcuts heading on the left-hand side and hover your mouse over it. Click the Edit button to start removing or adding.

Now, please search for a group, page, or game so that you can show or hide it from the Shortcuts list. Following that, click on the drop-down menu and select Pin to top or Hide.

This list contains three options, and they are-

• Sort automatically: It is the default setting for all existing pages/groups/games. It indicates that the corresponding game or page will appear based on the number of visits.
• Pin to top: It helps you show the page or group on the top.
• Hide: If you want to hide a particular page, group, or game, choose this option.

At last, click the Save button.

Android or iPhone

The shortcut bar on my Facebook app contains the Menu, Notifications, News Feed, Watch, Groups, and Pages.

Your Facebook app may contain different shortcuts on its shortcut bar since the one you use the most is available here.

You’ll find it at the bottom if you’re on an iPhone or at the top if you’re on an Android.

Notifications, Menu, and News Feed aren’t removable.

An important thing to note is that you can’t move the shortcut bar from top to bottom or bottom to top.

You can remove the remaining shortcuts from the shortcut bar if you prefer. Let’s take a look at how:

Open the Facebook app.

On Android, tap the Menu (three horizontal lines) at the top, while on iPhone, tap the three horizontal lines at the bottom.

Go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Shortcuts. You can find the latter between Notifications and Language and Region.

Hit the Shortcut bar.

You can see the following now:

Also, there’s a toggle beside all the above.

Turn off the toggle switch next to the shortcut you don’t want in the shortcut bar.

That’s all.

Note: You can add these shortcuts anytime by turning on the toggle switch.

An alternative way to do this task is as follows:

Long press the shortcut on the shortcut bar.

The option “Remove from shortcut bar” is visible. Tap on it.

Hit Remove in the popup.

That’s it.

Note: Shortcuts can be added using the steps at the top.

PC

The “Your Shortcuts” section on the left sidebar contains shortcuts. Shortcuts are the things you do most on Facebook.

Getting rid of shortcuts is easy, and here’s how:

Hover your mouse over “Your Shortcuts” in the left sidebar and see “Edit.” Hit it.

You can see shortcuts and a drop-down list beside each shortcut in the popup.

To remove the shortcut, open the drop-down list beside it and select Hide.

The shortcut you pin will remain at the top of the “Your Shortcuts” section. To pin a shortcut, open the drop-down list beside it and select “Pin to Top.”

Save your changes by clicking the Save button.

Note: If you want to unpin or add a shortcut to Your Shortcuts section, open the drop-down list beside the shortcut and select Sort Automatically. Sort Automatically shows the shortcuts in the Your Shortcuts section, which Facebook automatically sorts.

How to Turn Off Notification Dots

What is “Notification Dots” on Facebook?

This one is a feature. In-app notifications are displayed as notification dots because of this.

Let’s see how to turn notification dots off on PC, Android, or iPhone.

Android or iPhone

Long press the shortcut on the shortcut bar.

The “Turn off notification dots” option is visible. Tap on it.

That’s all.

You need to long-press the shortcut and then hit Turn on notification dots to turn it on.

Here’s an alternate method:

Open the Facebook app.

On Android, touch the menu (three horizontal lines) at the top, and on the iPhone, touch the three horizontal lines at the bottom.

Go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Shortcuts > Notification dots.

You can see the following now:

Also, there’s a toggle beside all of the above.

Turn off the toggle switch next to the one you want to turn off the notification dots.

That’s all.

Note: You can turn on notifications dots by turning the toggle switch on.

PC

Sign in to your Facebook account.

I can see Home, Friends, Watch, Pages, and Marketplace at the top. You may see different ones.

Except for the former, all of these got notification dots enabled.

Here’s how you can get rid of the red dot on the Facebook tab:

Hit the one for which you want to turn off the notification dots.

In this case, I choose Friends. However, these steps are also applicable to others.

On the left sidebar, click the Gear icon.

Turn off the “Show notification dots.”

That’s it.

Note: You can turn on the notification dots by turning on the Show notifications dots.
