What time does the 49ers play tomorrow

The Rams (14-5) will face the 49ers (12-7) in the 2021-22 NFC championship game at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The game will be televised by FOX.

Los Angeles, which defeated the Cardinals and Buccaneers in the wild-card and divisional rounds, respectively, is making its second NFC Championship appearance in the last four years. The Rams defeated the Saints in 2018 to advance to Super Bowl LIII, though they ultimately lost to the Patriots, 13-3.

Los Angeles won the NFC West for the third time in McVay’s five seasons and has had a stellar offensive season, led by quarterback Matthew Stafford, who was traded to the team for former quarterback Jared Goff in the offseason. Stafford ranked second in the NFL in passing touchdowns (41) during the regular season and has thrown for 568 passing yards and four touchdowns against zero interceptions in the postseason.

The 49ers are making their second NFC championship appearance in the last three seasons. San Francisco advanced to Super Bowl LIV in 2019, losing to the Chiefs, after beating the Packers in the conference championship.

The 49ers are arguably the hottest team in the NFL at this point, having won seven of their last nine regular-season games to qualify for the postseason. Their defense has allowed just 27 combined points in their two playoff contests, including 10 for the Packers and likely-MVP award winner Aaron Rodgers.

This will be the second postseason meeting between the Rams and 49ers in their history. San Francisco defeated Los Angeles in the 1990 NFC Championship Game, 30-3.

As members of the NFC West, the 49ers won both of the regular-season meetings between the teams this season. San Francisco has won six straight of these matchups dating back to 2019.

For the San Francisco 49ers, the task on Sunday is simple: Win and you’re in. They have a win against the Rams under their belt already this season, but the looming 18 matchup is huge for the Niners. If they lose, Kyle Shanahan’s unit would have to turn its attention to Atlanta and hope the Falcons beat the Saints, as a Niners loss and a Saints win would knock the 49ers out of the playoff picture.

They have the unenviable task of trying to clinch a playoff berth against a Rams team that is still playing for a divisional title. The Rams and Cardinals are still duking it out for the NFC West, and the Rams can clinch with either a win or a Cardinals loss to the Seahawks. Matthew Stafford is coming off of a rough week against the Ravens, a two-interception performance that the Rams ultimately eked out a 20-19 victory in thanks to some late-game heroics.

Those kinds of gutty wins have been big for the Rams, as they look to ice what’s been an impressive divisional comeback. They close out the season at home, and while a win clinches the division, it also puts a team that has had their number on the brink of elimination. Sean McVay and the Rams have dropped five straight to the Niners, most recently a 31-10 laugher earlier this season.

Part of the reason for that is the matchup. The Rams defense has struggled against the run this year, and the 49ers run the ball just under 48 percent of the time – fourth in the NFL in terms of run percentage. Expect a heavy dose of that. For the Rams, the best answer is to go up early and make the 49ers play from behind. Trey Lance is coming off his first home start, a 23-7 win over the Texans. Whether it’s Lance or Jimmy Garoppolo playing Sunday, the 49ers will need them to be at their best against a Rams team that has only added production as the season has gone on.
