On a day that has become an unofficial holiday for many football fans, the NFL will finally announce the 2022 regular season schedule for the Seahawks and all 32 teams on Thursday. Show
Roughly at the midway point between the Super Bowl and the start of training camp, the league milks the schedule reveal process to take advantage of football-hungry fans who can't wait for the upcoming season to start. The schedule will officially be revealed on ESPN and NFL Network at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT, but before then, games will be leaked out and schedule sleuths may know who Seattle is playing and when well before the shows kick off. This season, in addition to their usual six NFC West contests, the Seahawks will play all four NFC South rivals as well as all four teams from the AFC West, which means quarterback Russell Wilson will return to his old stomping grounds at some point this season under center for the Broncos. They also will face the Jets at Lumen Field as a ninth home game and play two additional games against the Lions and New York Giants. As those leaks and rumors come to the forefront, check out of updated tracker as we piece together the Seahawks' 2022 schedule from the season opener in September all the way to Week 18 in January. Week 1 - vs. Denver Broncos**Monday Night Football As reported by Vic Lombardi of Altitude TV and confirmed by the team, the Seahawks will welcome Wilson back to Lumen Field on Monday Night Football in their season opener. This shouldn't come as a surprise, as the NFL will want to take advantage of a marquee matchup pitting the star quarterback against his former team in prime time. Revenge games always score well in regard to ratings and the stadium should be extra loud to greet the nine-time Pro Bowler in his new orange and blue threads. Week 2 - at San Francisco 49ersPer San Francisco's team Twitter account, the Seahawks will head to Santa Clara for their first road game of the new campaign and square off against Nick Bosa and the 49ers. Kickoff from Levis Stadium will be at 1:05 PM PST. Week 3Week 4Week 5 - at New Orleans SaintsPer a source, the Seahawks will hit the road to face Alvin Kamara and the Saints on Sunday, October 9 at the Caesars Superdome. This will be the first time the two teams have met in New Orleans since 2016. In that game, Jermaine Kearse wasn't able to get both feet down inbounds in the end zone in closing seconds as the Saints held on for a 25-21 victory. Week 6Week 7Week 8 - vs. New York GiantsAccording to Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com, the Seahawks will host the Giants at Lumen Field for a 1:25 PM PST kickoff. This will mark the second time the two teams have faced off in Seattle since 2020, with New York grabbing an upset win over the eventual NFC West champions two years ago.
Week 9 - at Arizona CardinalsMuch to the chagrin of 12s everywhere, according to reporter Johnny Venerable, the Seahawks will indeed play at least one of their two divisional matchups against the Cardinals after star receiver DeAndre Hopkins returns from his six-game suspension. He should be eligible to suit up against Seattle's new look cornerback group at State Farm Stadium in early November. Week 10 - at Tampa Bay Buccaneers****Played in Munich, Germany Playing in the first ever regular season game held in Germany, the Seahawks will battle Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in Munich in front of what could look like a home crowd in Europe. This will be the first time Brady has played against the Seahawks since joining the Buccaneers two years ago. The game will kick off at 6:30 AM PT, so fans will need to go to bed early to ensure they can wake up in time for the festivities. Week 11 - BYEWhile it has yet to be confirmed, the Seahawks are expected to have a bye week after playing in Germany. Week 12Week 13Week 14 - vs. Carolina PanthersAccording to reporter Joe Person of the Athletic, Christian McCaffrey and the Panthers will fly out to the Pacific Northwest to play the Seahawks for a Sunday afternoon tilt. This will be the first time the two teams have met in Seattle since 2016 when the Seahawks routed Cam Newton and the Panthers 40-7 on Sunday Night Football. Week 15 - vs. San Francisco 49ersPer Kyle Posey of Niners Nation, the Seahawks will host the 49ers at Lumen Field on Thursday Night Football, which will part of Amazon's Prime schedule this season. Adding some intrigue to this matchup off the field, former Seahawks and 49ers star cornerback Richard Sherman may be in the broadcast booth when the two bitter rivals battle in prime time. Week 16 - at Kansas City ChiefsPer Softy Mahler of KJR 950 in Seattle, the Seahawks reportedly will travel to Arrowhead Stadium for a Christmas Eve road matchup against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Playing in one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL against a dynamic offense, this could be the toughest non-NFC West road game on Seattle's schedule all season long. Week 17 - vs. New York JetsAccording to Brian Costello of the New York Post, the Jets will finish up the season with back-to-back road games, including a visit to Lumen Field to face Jamal Adams and the Seahawks. This will be the second time the two franchises have met in three seasons, though much has changed since Seattle won a 40-3 blowout in 2020. Week 18Kenneth Walker III - Expected to start Saturday Walker is expected to start Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Impact Rashaad Penny is dealing with a slight groin injury and will likely sit out Saturday's game, though he wasn't expected to play much even if he was healthy. Head coach Pete Carroll spent time Thursday raving about the rookie's abilities in the passing game, specifically as a pass blocker, which was a major question mark coming out of college. Walker will get a chance to prove himself in his first NFL action Saturday, and if he shows the necessary improvements in the passing game, he could have a chance to get on the field often when the games start to count. However, Penny's finish to the 2021 season should lock him in as the No. 1 back as long as he's healthy. 10 HOURS AGO • ROTOWIRE site: media | arena: nfl | pageType: schedules | section: | slug: | sport: football | route: team_page_schedule_by_season | 6-keys: media/spln/nfl/reg/free/schedules_team
