Gucci Mane wasn’t exaggerating when he rapped about trying to sign Mulatto on her “Muwop” single. In an interview with HotNewHipHop, the RCA Records rap star revealed the true story behind Gucci’s “tried to sign Mulatto, but she was signed already” line from the song.

“The producer [J. White Did It] that made ‘Muwop,’ he hit me,” she recalled. “He was like, ‘Yeah, I sent it to Gucci and he was like, ‘Yeah, I’ll do the verse but what’s her label situation? I wanna sign her. She signed?’ So that was not cap when he said he tried to sign Mulatto and she was signed already. That was not cap. But the producer let him know, ‘Nah, she literally just signed a deal. She just signed with RCA.'”

Mulatto noted Gucci had major regrets about failing to sign her. According to the gold-selling rapper, the missed opportunity was still on the 1017 Records boss’ mind when they connected at a later date.

“Even when I met Gucci on stage, he was just like, ‘Man, how I miss out on you, shawty? I fucked up,” she said.
