WWE is a professional wrestling promotion based out of Stamford, Connecticut. Title reigns are either determined by professional wrestling matches or are awarded to a wrestler, as a result of the culmination of various storylines. The WWE splits its main roster into two distinctive brands, Raw and SmackDown Live, as well as a third brand NXT, with each having their own set of championships. There are six active singles championships for male wrestlers, three active championships for female wrestlers, and five active tag team championships between Raw, Friday Night SmackDown and NXT. The NXT UK brand has 4 championships - one for men, one for women, a secondary title named the NXT UK Heritage Cup, and the NXT UK Tag Team Championships, only for the men's division.

Current championships[]

At the top of WWE's championship hierarchy are the WWE Championship on Raw, the WWE Universal Championship on WWE SmackDown, and the NXT Championship on NXT. The current WWE Champion is Big E who is in his second reign. He won the title by defeating previous champion Bobby Lashley via a Money in the Bank cash-in on 13th September, 2021. The current Universal Champion is Roman Reigns, who is in his second reign, having defeated previous champion 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt at Payback 2020. The current NXT Champion is Tommasso Ciampa, who is in his second reign. He won the vacant title by defeating LA Knight, Pete Dunne, and Von Wagner in a fatal four-way match on the September 21, 2021 episode of NXT 2.0; previous champion Samoa Joe relinquished the title due to injury.

Secondary titles in WWE include the WWE Intercontinental Championship for SmackDown and the WWE United States Championship for Raw. The Intercontinental Championship is currently held by Seth Rollins, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating The Miz and Finn Balor at Wrestlemania 34. The United States Championship is currently held by Jeff Hardy, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating former champion Jinder Mahal on Raw before being Drafted to SmackDown Live.

The WWE Cruiserweight Championship is part of the 205 Live brand and is for wrestlers 205 lb (93 kg) and under. It is defended on the cruiserweight-exclusive 205 Live.[1] It is also defended on NXT and NXT UK. The title is held by Roderick Strong from NXT, who is in his first reign. He defeated Kushida on the September 21, 2021 episode of NXT 2.0.

The WWE Raw Women's Championship is currently held by Charlotte Flair in her record 6th reign. She defeated previous champion Nikki A.S.H. and Rhea Ripley in a triple threat match at SummerSlam 2021. The WWE SmackDown Women's Championship is currrently held by Becky Lynch, who is in her fourh reign, having defeated previous champion Bianca Belair, also at SummerSlam 2021.

The WWE Raw Tag Team Championship is currently held by first-time champions RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle). They won the titles by defeating AJ Styles and Omos in a tag team match at SummerSlam 2021. The WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship is held by The Usos (Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso). They defeated Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio at Money in the Bank 2021.

The NXT Women's Championship is held by Raquel González, who is in her first reign. She won the title by defeating Io Shirai on Night 1 of TakeOver: Stand & Deliver on April 7, 2021. The NXT Tag Team Championship is held by MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee), who are in their first reign. They won the vacant title by defeating Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake and Zack Gibson) and Legado Del Fantasma (Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde) in a Triple Threat Tag Team match during Night 1 of TakeOver: Stand & Deliver on April 7, 2021; previous champions Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan had vacated the titles due to Burch suffering a legitimate shoulder injury.[1]

On December 15, 2016, Triple H announced a new title, the WWE United Kingdom Championship.It is held by Ilja Dragunov, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating Walter at NXT TakeOver 36 on August 22, 2021. The top title for female wrestlers is the NXT UK Women's Championship. It is held by first-time title holder Meiko Satomura, who won the title by defeating Kay Lee Ray on the June 10, 2021 episode of NXT UK (the actual date the match took place is unknown). The secondary championship for male wrestlers is the NXT UK Heritage Cup, which has a special stipulation in which all matches are contested under "British Rounds Rules". It is held by Tyler Bate, who is in his first reign. He defeated A-Kid on the May 20, 2021 episode of NXT UK (the actual date the match took place is unknown). There is only one tag team championship in NXT UK, and it is for male wrestlers. The NXT UK Tag Team Championship is held by Pretty Deadly (Lewis Howley and Sam Stoker), who are in their first reign. They defeated Gallus (Mark Coffey and Wolfgang) on the February 25, 2021 episode of NXT UK (the actual date the match took place is unknown).

The WWE 24/7 Championship is a tertiary championship shared across all five brands and is open to anyone regardless of gender (including non-WWE personnel). It can be defended anytime, anywhere, as long as a WWE referee is present. The title is held by first-time champion Reggie, who pinned Akira Tozawa on the July 19, 2021 episode of Raw. He won the title under his previous ring name, Reginald, which was changed to Reggie on July 23.
